Page Levels
Each page in a site has a different level of importance according to where it appears in your sitemap.
- The first page of any site, often called the Home page or Index page, is a Level 1 page. This is the most important and usually the busiest page. There is normally only 1 Level 1 page on every site.
- Pages that are reached from the home page by clicking on a navigation menu are Level 2 pages. These are usually pages such as About, Services, Products, and Contact for example. Small sites would have no more than 4 or 5 Level 2 pages.
- Level 3 pages are those pages that are only available from one of the Level 2 pages. These are usually pages that expand on information found in Level 2 pages. They have the least level of importance.
